MUSINGS AT GRADE 2A
Grade 2A presented an assembly on ‘fractions’ and reflected their understanding of the same. UOI- The students were tuned into the new transdisciplinary theme , ’Who we are’ by assessing their prior knowledge on the body systems. They were also introduced to the internal and external body parts, where they did an activity of finding out the differences and similarities between the two. Students also attempted their summative assessment on the last unit ‘Food’. Math- Students did an interesting activity on fractions, and enjoyed making their own cakes by cutting , pasting and colouring them. Summative assessment on ‘fractions’ was also attempted by the students. English- In their English class students did the character sketch of the famous writer- author Mr. Ruskin Bond. They further did a novel study by reading one of his famous works, ‘Granny’s glasses’. They further enhanced their reading skills with the read aloud sessions. Students also worked on their writing skills by doing creative writing and also learnt to make inferences. ICT- Students learnt how to manipulate size, font, and colours of text and use word art, textbox, underline, bold, italics in Microsoft Word. They also learnt to insert images related the unit of inquiry using shape tool. Hindi- In their Hindi classes students shared and wrote their experience about the camp. They learnt 'vachan badalo' (singular-plural) through a video. They read a paragraph in context to the same. Art- In their art class students inquired into Warli art. They also observed some visuals of it and created a composition of Warli art using their thinking skills. P.E.- The students practiced dribbling in football in the free area and around the court. They also practiced kicking and passing the ball to the partner. They also enjoyed playing short sided matches.

Introduction to body parts and organs will be an interesting topic ...now we can connect healthy eating to the benefits to organs functions. :-)
